The only sort of dragonkind found in the Valley of Baryn, wyverns are a quite frequent site. They are known as keen hunters and often lair in the rocky cliffs and peaks of the Dragons Claw Mountains where they may range for miles seeking out their prey. Often, this prey takes the form of livestock or wild game but humans, elves and other folk of the valley can sometimes be added to the wyvern’s diet.
To the dwarves, wyverns are seen as pests to be swatted ouf of their caves and a pest that likes to capitalize on their labors, making mines into murky, filth ridden dens. The humans of the valley are indifferent to them as they are many of the other creatures of the valley, holding them in no greater contempt than a bear or wild boar. Heroes of the valley are often credited with having slain awyvern and more than one folktale revolves around and encounter and subsequent dispatching of one of these winged beasts.
Wyvern venom is sometimes used by goblins who covet its quick, deadly nature and use it to add extra power to their otherwise meager arsenals. Widders of the valley have been known to use wyvern venom is various brews and mixtures used in everything from cures for common diseases to the banishing of fevers. There is even rumor of a particularly dark ale that blends the tiniest bit of wyvern venom into its recipee to add that certain kick.
